Projects: Research
User Experience Design: StartupSeattle
The design challenge for this project is to uncover how we might use the City’s website to better connect tech startup founders and investors with information and resources.
Qualitative Research Methods
This course provided hands-on experience with qualitative research methods, such as interviewing and participant observation, as used in human-centered design and engineering. I learned to develop appropriate research questions, collect observational data, develop interview protocols, conduct interviews, analyze data, and communicate findings.
Capstone: Distributed Retail Returns
Rideshare and delivery drivers usually don't know how much they'll earn before they accept a ride, making it difficult to know how long it will take them to reach their earning goals. EZ-Turn helps rideshare drivers earn extra money by connecting them with people who want to send their returns back to the store.
Designing a Human-Centered Venture
In this course, we explored the planning of a new venture related to human-centered design. We also examined relevant topics, such as team formation, user and market research, value creation, and the iterative demand planning for a new venture.
Human Centered Design in Haiti: User Research with Kay Tita
During the summer of 2017, I had the pleasure of working with Kay Tita for the Hack for Good event at Microsoft and Port-au-Prince Startup Week in Haiti. It was an unforgettable experience that challenged me academically, professionally, and spiritually. This is what Haiti taught me...
Empirical Traditions in Human Centered Design and Engineering
The objective of this course was to explore the empirical traditions that inform research and practice in HCDE. Topics included epistemological assumptions that underlie empirical research, empirical research methods, examples of empirical research, and ethical issues that underlie empirical research.
Theoretical Foundations of HCDE
This course introduced me to major theoretical perspectives from the field of Human Computer Interaction.
Usability Studies
This course introduced me to usability testing and to usability research as a user-‐centered design strategy.
User-Centered Design
In this course, we explored the user-centered design paradigm from a broad perspective, emphasizing how user research and prototype assessment can be integrated into different phases of the design process.
